Alpine F1 Joins Forces with Eni in Major Fuel Shake-Up

13/02/2025

Alpine F1 secures a multi-year deal with Eni, marking the Italian giant’s return to Formula 1 and strengthening ties with Renault Group.

Alpine F1 and Eni are pleased to announce Eni’s return to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
The Italian company becomes the team’s Official Energy and Fuel Partner under a multi-year agreement.

This announcement marks Eni’s return to a team affiliated with Enstone for the first time since its last involvement in F1 with Benetton in 2000. The team will collaborate with Eni to activate the Enilive brand at selected races among the twenty-four events on the 2025 calendar.

Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group:
“The beauty of the automotive world is that it is a team sport. This is truer than ever as we must reinvent the automobile. To develop innovative solutions, there is nothing better than combining the expertise and talents of exceptional companies. That is why I am excited about this partnership with Eni, in F1 and also to explore new opportunities for shared and efficient mobility. Together, we have the potential to push boundaries.”

Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni:
“Today, we are signing a significant agreement allowing Eni and Renault Group to combine their industrial stature and technological leadership in their respective fields to open new avenues of development in key areas for sustainable transport. The introduction of biofuel testing with BWT Alpine Formula One Team is equally important, as it reflects F1’s ongoing pursuit of technological excellence in engine development and performance.”

As a Premium Partner of BWT Alpine Formula One Team, Eni will feature on the A525, the team’s 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship challenger, which will be unveiled during the F175 event on February 18 at the O2 Arena in London. The Eni brand will also be visible on the race suits and helmets of all the team’s drivers.

Eni’s presence will extend to the pit crew and the entire racing ecosystem and environment of BWT Alpine Formula One Team.
A future collaboration is planned to assess and analyze innovations in fuel technologies and the development of racing biofuels at the pinnacle of motorsport.

Flavio Briatore, Executive Advisor, BWT Alpine Formula One Team:
“It is with immense pride that we welcome Eni back to Formula 1 with BWT Alpine Formula One Team. Eni has played a significant role in our team’s history and has been an important partner in Formula 1. We share common goals and objectives, particularly in energy efficiency, sustainability, and biofuel products. It is fantastic to have them back with BWT Alpine Formula One Team, and we look forward to working together on many exciting projects both on and off the track.”

Eni and Renault Group are also pleased to announce an agreement to identify and develop future opportunities for collaboration in decarbonizing the transport sector.

As part of this initiative, both companies will explore potential joint business developments across various sectors, including electric mobility infrastructure, smart mobility services, and energy supply solutions to support the ecological transition.

A first concrete achievement under this agreement will be the acquisition of Renault vehicles by Enjoy, Enilive’s car-sharing service.
