Jody Egginton Moves On A Bold Shift Beyond Formula 1

Jody Egginton Turns the Page: A New Chapter at Red Bull Advanced Technologies

10/03/2025

After a decade in F1, Jody Egginton leaves Racing Bulls to take on a cutting-edge role at Red Bull Advanced Technologies.

After more than a decade shaping the future of Toro Rosso, AlphaTauri, and now Racing Bulls, Jody Egginton is embarking on a new adventure. The long-serving technical director is set to join Red Bull Advanced Technologies as Director of Engineering, stepping away from the fast-paced world of Formula 1 for a fresh challenge.

Starting April 1, Egginton will follow a path reminiscent of Adrian Newey’s—moving beyond the F1 bubble to explore cutting-edge innovation.

A Journey Through the Paddock

Egginton’s career in motorsport began in 1996, working as a junior designer at Tyrrell. Over the years, he built a solid reputation across multiple F1 teams, from Midland (which later became Spyker and Force India) to Team Lotus. In 2014, he landed in Faenza as Head of Vehicle Performance, climbing the ranks to Deputy Technical Director in 2017, before taking the reins as Technical Director in 2019.

Now, as Egginton moves on, his responsibilities at Racing Bulls will be split between:

  • Tim Goss (Technical Director)
  • Guillaume Cattelani (Deputy Technical Director, Car Performance)
  • Andrea Landi (Deputy Technical Director, Car Design)

“Time for a Change”

Reflecting on his decade with the team, Egginton shared his thoughts:
“Being part of this team for over 10 years has been an incredible journey, filled with unforgettable moments. But after nearly 20 years in F1, I feel it’s time for a change. Red Bull Advanced Technologies has some thrilling projects lined up, and I can’t wait to take on this new challenge.”

A Legacy of Innovation

Laurent Mekies, Racing Bulls Team Principal, paid tribute to Egginton’s impact:
“Jody has been a driving force behind our innovation and progress. His technical expertise and leadership have played a key role in shaping this team. We’re grateful for everything he’s done and wish him all the best in his next adventure within the Red Bull family.”

From F1 battlefields to high-tech frontiers, Egginton is ready for his next big leap.
