Jack Doohan faces intense pressure at Alpine F1, with rivals waiting in the wings and Briatore closely evaluating his performance every race.
Doohan knows what’s at stake. With Alpine F1 evaluating its driver lineup, the 22-year-old Australian is fully aware that his seat isn’t secure. “I have a guy chasing my seat,” he admitted. “Actually, we have four reserve drivers now. If they’re not after mine, they’re after Pierre’s. So honestly, I’ll enjoy every race as if it were my last.”
Flavio Briatore, who manages Doohan but doesn’t hesitate to be critical, confirmed that the young driver is under scrutiny. “Doohan starts, then we’ll reassess our situation,” he stated. In Briatore’s eyes, F1 drivers are like CEOs—leaders responsible for delivering results. “A thousand people work for them, so they need to take responsibility. In Formula 1, evaluations happen every Sunday.”
Briatore seems more satisfied with Pierre Gasly at the moment, but Red Bull’s Helmut Marko believes the Frenchman is also feeling the heat. “It’s not just Colapinto,” he pointed out. “Paul Aron is in the mix too.”
Franco Colapinto remains a serious contender for a future Alpine seat, keeping the pressure high on Doohan. With so many talented drivers in the waiting room, every race could be a defining moment for the Australian.
The message is clear: Perform or step aside.
