Ex-Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali believes Vasseur can handle the heat as the Scuderia struggles to hit form in early 2025.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has a clear message for Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur: stay focused, block out the noise, and don’t let rising criticism from the Italian media shake your confidence.
Ferrari’s 2025 campaign hasn’t started the way fans hoped. After four races, neither Charles Leclerc nor Lewis Hamilton has made it to the podium. While Hamilton did grab a win in the Shanghai sprint race, the moment was overshadowed by Ferrari’s double disqualification from the Grand Prix the following day.
There were small signs of progress in Bahrain, where Leclerc narrowly missed a podium finish. Ferrari introduced a new floor upgrade that both drivers said worked as intended — a small but important step forward.
Domenicali, who led Ferrari as team boss from 2008 to 2014, shared his perspective on the team’s current situation.
“I’m not in a position to judge, but I see a Ferrari that’s close to fighting for wins,” he said. “The best advice I can give Fred, and I speak with him regularly, is to keep his head down and keep working. Don’t let the pressure of the job take over.”
Domenicali remains optimistic about what’s to come.
“I truly believe we’ll see Ferrari win again this season. The gaps between teams are so tight now — every small detail can make the difference.”
He also touched on the emotional weight of being part of the Scuderia.
“Being at Ferrari is unlike anything else,” he added. “I was just talking with Lewis about it. Even for a champion like him, putting on that red suit means something special.”
