Jérôme D’Ambrosio takes a bigger role at Ferrari as the team balances 2024 performance with crucial 2026 project development at the factory.
D’Ambrosio, the new deputy director of Scuderia Ferrari, had a more prominent presence on the Red Wall in Bahrain than at the end of last season.
The Belgian, who has settled into his role over the past six months, is responsible for assisting the Frenchman in his duties.
Speaking to RTBF, he explained how he would operate in tandem with Vasseur this season. He also revealed that he is expected to take charge of the team more frequently during Grands Prix, as preparations for the 2026 season require attention at the factory.
“We operate in a particular way, as we share this role. Fred is the team principal, but I assist him on all matters. This ranges from performance and driver topics to factory issues, human resources, or finance. I will attend around 18 Grands Prix, but we will ensure that one of us remains at the factory, especially with 2026 being such a major project.”
Like his boss, D’Ambrosio refrained from making any predictions about the exact competitive order after testing.
“We can expect a tight championship. It’s difficult to draw conclusions from these three days of testing, as everyone follows their own programs. The wind and even the rain didn’t help, so we’ll see in Melbourne.”
“At the factory, we will analyze all the opportunities to improve the car. We want to arrive in Melbourne with a deeper understanding of the Ferrari. It’s a constant and relentless effort until then.”
