Sergio Pérez faced a challenging weekend in Brazil, finishing outside the points after multiple setbacks with his Red Bull car.
Sergio Pérez finished 11th in the São Paulo Grand Prix after starting from 11th on the grid, while his teammate Max Verstappen began in 15th and went on to win the race. Following his eighth-place finish in the Sprint, Pérez secured just one point over the weekend in Brazil.
“Nothing really worked today; we started the race on cold tyres because, at the time, we didn’t know we could change them like everyone else did. Without a car in front, I had a lot of wheel spin,” Pérez explained, detailing his struggles throughout the race.
“Then I spun at Turn 10—it was a disaster. We pitted before the red flag… nothing worked! Towards the end, we were climbing back up, with some good restarts. I fought with Lawson and lost a place to Lewis after going straight on at Turn 4.”
The Mexican driver nevertheless maintains that Red Bull is closing in on the top, despite his own performance: “I think we’re making progress; the weekend was stronger than the results suggest. That’s the positive takeaway.”
