Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto struggled for pace in Monaco GP practice as Alpine F1 faces early performance challenges this weekend.
Gasly Frustrated by Pace
Pierre Gasly finished in the lower end of the timesheets during FP2 at the Monaco Grand Prix, and the Alpine F1 driver is not pleased with the pace of his A525, having ended the session over a second off the best time, as he explained to F1Lead
“FP1 was rather positive, there’s quite a bit to analyze after FP2. I’m able to put together clean laps but in terms of performance we’re quite far off. For now, it’s not great, but we’ll work on it,” said Gasly, who dismissed any issues with confidence. “At the moment I can really push to the limit but we’re just not fast.”
Colapinto Struggles in Monaco
Franco Colapinto was dead last at the end of the first day, two seconds off the pace, and admits there is still work to be done to find performance: “Monaco is a tough track. We’re progressing step by step, and there will be a lot to go through before tomorrow.”

“I think we’ll be in a better place, the long runs were already better and I’m feeling confident. We still need to find pace, we’re a bit off with both cars—myself especially, but Pierre too—and we need to work for tomorrow.”
The Argentinian admits he didn’t get as much running as he had hoped: “Not really, between the red flags and the traffic, it’s not ideal. But the weekend is just starting and there’s a lot to work on.”
