Colapinto Stays Loyal to Williams Amid Audi Buzz

19/09/2024

Amid speculation, Franco Colapinto remains committed to Williams, ignoring Audi F1 rumors for 2025.

At the Singapore Grand Prix, Franco Colapinto responded to speculations that Audi F1 might pursue him for the 2025 season, with James Vowles, his boss at Williams F1, not opposing a loan to the German team (which will continue as Stake F1 next year).

However, the Argentine, who scored an impressive four points in Baku, made it clear that he is fully focused on continuing his performance at Williams for the remaining seven rounds of the season.

“Of course, it’s great that there are rumors about me. But I have no idea about anything. I’m with Williams and James [Vowles] has given me an incredible opportunity, and I’m very, very proud of what we are achieving together in just my second race.”

“I have no idea what will happen in 2025, but it’s not something on my mind right now. That’s why I have managers working on what I need to do next season.”

“I’m not really thinking about much outside of Williams, it’s already a big leap to manage! I’m focusing on this year and the incredible opportunity I’ve had to race in F1 mid-season.”

When asked about the possibility of opening other doors in the near future, the 21-year-old driver continued: “My goal was to come to F1 and try to stay. The opportunity Williams has given me is very special and it’s a dream I’ve had since I was very young.”

“I am enjoying every moment and I think that’s the most important part. I don’t know how long this will last, whether I’ll be here next year or not… I really don’t care and I’m not thinking about those things.”

Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks, Colapinto expressed his pride in how quickly he has integrated into Williams.

“Of course, it’s very exciting to see that we are getting good results with Williams. The team is doing an excellent job, the car improves session after session. I feel a bit more comfortable with the car and simply feel good.”

“The team helps me achieve this, the learning process is much faster and I think we are moving in the right direction. It’s just a beginning, but we are doing very well and scoring good points for the team, more than double the points they have scored this season in just one weekend.”

“Everything has gone well so far and I look forward to continuing to work with this amazing team. Of course, I am very proud and grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me.”
