Cardile Exits Ferrari Role Eyes Aston Martin Move

Official : Enrico Cardile Departs Ferrari; Aston Martin Next?

08/07/2024

Enrico Cardile has left his role at Ferrari. Speculations rise: Is Aston Martin F1 his next destination?

The rumour had been intensifying over the past few weeks and is now official: Enrico Cardile has left Ferrari. The Italian held the position of technical director of the chassis department, overseeing the creation and development of the single-seaters.

“After nearly two decades at Ferrari, Cardile has resigned with immediate effect, and provisionally, the chassis department will be overseen by team principal Frédéric Vasseur,” reads the statement.

The Scuderia “thanks Enrico for all his hard work over so many years.” Now, the team must find his replacement. Adrian Newey’s name was often mentioned, but Vasseur was believed to desire stability and not disrupt a technical department that seemed to be functioning well.

The situation has now completely changed, as the team is looking for an engineer to oversee the chassis department. Although his role is not limited to chassis and is even more geared towards aerodynamics, Newey would be the ideal recruit to help Ferrari create its future single-seaters for the 2026 regulations.

As for Cardile, he is likely to bounce back in Formula 1. Although nothing is confirmed at this moment, numerous rumours had recently placed him at Aston Martin F1, where Dan Fallows is at risk in the role of technical director during this disappointing 2024 season for the team.

Newey was also a name mentioned in connection with the Silverstone team, but with Cardile’s departure, the logical game of musical chairs would see Cardile at Aston, and Newey heading to Maranello. However, in this particularly turbulent silly season, we could still be in for another surprise.
