McLaren secured their first title since 1998 in a tense race, leaving Zak Brown visibly shaken by the nail-biting finish.
Zak Brown, McLaren CEO, reflected emotionally on his team’s first title since 1998.
“Those were by far the worst two hours of my life. Lando drove brilliantly. What happened to Oscar at the start was unfortunate, but the team was flawless. They executed the pit stop perfectly. And I think I was the only one on the verge of a heart attack for about two hours.”
Regarding Lando Norris’s performance, Brown had no complaints.
“In this race, he carried us. He couldn’t afford to make mistakes, and we were worried about Safety Cars—I was worried about everything—but he drove flawlessly, as he always does.”
“In 2025, we’ll aim to repeat the constructors’ title and go for the drivers’ title too. I’ll let Oscar and Lando sort that out.”
On Norris’s statement that next year will be “his year,” Brown added, “He’s going to give it his all. And with the momentum he has, I wouldn’t bet against him.”
Brown also praised Andrea Stella’s impact as team principal.
“He’s an incredible leader. He leads by example, empowers people, is highly technical, and pushes everyone to be their best. That’s what you saw tonight.”
“I love everyone at Woking! What an amazing team effort. Every man and woman at McLaren. Incredible! It was stressful.”
