Brown: Piastri Was in Total Control, Norris Gave It Everything

McLaren Duo Dazzle in Desert Duel, Title Race Heats Up

Oscar Piastri delivers a masterclass as Lando Norris storms to third, giving McLaren a dream start to their 2025 season.

While team principal Andrea Stella celebrated on the podium with the drivers, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown was all smiles after a stellar weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Oscar Piastri delivered a flawless performance from pole position to take the win, while teammate Lando Norris fought back from P6 on the grid to finish third, right behind George Russell’s Mercedes.

It wasn’t a 1-2 finish, but McLaren walked away with a valuable 40 points.

“I actually asked Oscar what he had for breakfast, because we all need some of that,” Brown joked. “He was on another level this weekend—sharp in qualifying, composed in the race. He just owned it. Hats off to him.”

“As for Lando, what a drive. He was absolutely flying and to have him back on the podium is just fantastic for the team.”

Brown also praised Russell’s pace, acknowledging Mercedes’ strong form: “George had a great race too. That car is quick, no doubt.”

When asked about the growing rivalry between Piastri and Norris—now just three points apart at the top of the standings—Brown welcomed the challenge.

“Exciting, isn’t it? They’re pushing each other hard. Lando still has the edge for now, but it’s shaping up to be a thrilling season. They’re racing clean, and as we’ve said before, they’re free to race.”

“We haven’t seen that epic head-to-head yet, the one everyone’s waiting for, but it’s coming. No doubt. Both of them are raising the game for the whole team. I couldn’t be happier.”
