Alpine F1’s Bold Move to Secure Adrian Newey!

Alpine F1 eyes Adrian Newey, offering him total decision-making freedom to lead their revival.

Despite facing challenges, the Formula 1 team Alpine has emerged as a last-minute contender to sign Adrian Newey.

As the sport began its August break, persistent rumours circulated by Autosprint (though unconfirmed at this stage) suggested a decision had been made, with an announcement expected in September—Aston Martin reportedly having edged out Ferrari to secure the design guru. However, Newey has remained impervious to all speculation, as he himself indicates (read here).

It is believed that Lawrence Stroll persuaded the 65-year-old designer with a four-year, $100 million contract—but Auto Bild now reports that Alpine’s new executive advisor, Flavio Briatore, has launched an offensive, much as he did in his attempt to sign Carlos Sainz.

“An internal source revealed that Renault CEO Luca de Meo and his new ‘firefighter’ Briatore have reached out to the British genius and literally promised him the moon to lure the aerodynamics wizard to Renault’s sports subsidiary and steer it back to success,” writes Ralf Bach.

“Beyond the financial aspects, Briatore guarantees Newey complete decision-making freedom in all areas. According to sources close to the matter, he is currently considering the offer and has not yet signed with Aston Martin.”
