Brad Pitt hails his F1 movie as a thrilling blend of Hollywood and motorsport, praising real Grand Prix action and authentic team support.
Ahead of its international release on June 25 and its North American debut on June 27, the F1 movie held its official premiere in New York on Monday, where Brad Pitt joined fellow cast members, numerous F1 drivers, and a host of celebrities on the red carpet.
Brad Pitt made a point of recognizing the involvement of Formula 1 drivers and teams for their “essential role” in the making of the film.
The actor described this collaboration between the sport and Hollywood as an “unforgettable experience,” with most of the action scenes filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends.
“The teams and the drivers—everyone opened their doors to us, and they play an essential role in this film. They welcomed us in a way I never could have imagined. It was an experience I’ll never forget.”
Pitt also reflected on the challenge of crafting the film’s storyline to strike a balance between longtime motorsport fans and newcomers.
“The hardest part was developing a story. This sport is so revered, and so many people know it well, yet there are still so many who haven’t seen it.”
“And trying to find common ground without dumbing it down for insiders, while offering an invitation and explanation for those new to the sport, was the toughest part—and I think we did a hell of a job.”
