Valtteri Bottas qualified 13th for the Australian Grand Prix, and the Kick Sauber driver is hopeful of capitalizing on this positive result in the race. The Finn aims to leverage Melbourne’s challenging conditions to achieve a strong finish.
“Making it to Q2 for the first time this season is definitely a positive, especially in Australia, a circuit where track position is crucial,” Bottas stated. “Starting closer to the top 10 tomorrow should put us in the fight to hopefully score a point or two.”
“We know we can compete with the cars around us. Overall, I feel we have made a small step forward. Given that the field is quite tight, even minor improvements can make a big difference.”
“The reshaped front wing has definitely contributed to the car’s balance and grip, and we’ve seen a general improvement in performance compared to the previous two races.”
“I’m looking forward to racing in front of a fantastic crowd tomorrow. It’s great to feel all this love and support, which energizes me. Melbourne is always an action-packed race, and I’ll give everything I have to make the fans happy and deliver a strong performance.”
Disappointment was evident for Guanyu Zhou, who qualified last in 19th position: “Today’s qualifying was challenging for me: my last lap was going rather well, but I experienced a significant loss of downforce in the last sector before realizing I had lost part of my front wing.”
“It’s unfortunate because I believe I could have easily made it to Q2; now, I’ll have to recover more than anticipated in tomorrow’s race to fight for points.”
“Although my recent qualifying sessions haven’t been the luckiest, our race pace has been quite good, and you never know what will happen on this circuit. I’m eager to race in front of an enthusiastic crowd and hope to climb up the rankings.”
