Valtteri Bottas laughs off rumors linking him to Red Bull, dismissing suggestions of a move and addressing alleged tensions within the team.
Valtteri Bottas was as shocked as those who messaged him upon learning he was linked to a potential transfer to Red Bull… due to a mistake on the official F1 store!
At the time of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the store began reorganizing drivers based on plans for 2025, and the Finn was mistakenly listed under Red Bull Racing.
This sparked speculation that he might join Red Bull as a reserve driver, but that is not the case.
“Yes, I received messages like, ‘Are you joining Red Bull?’ I said, ‘Not that I know of.’ And it started to spread.”
“I eventually understood and found it funny. You know, these are just rumors.”
Bottas had previously been asked about the possibility of joining Red Bull, given his past experience with Mercedes, where Toto Wolff had called him a “sensational wingman.”
He practically ruled out that possibility.
“As I’ve said before, I feel there are people at Red Bull who don’t really like me for some reason. I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s an option. That’s how I feel.”
“I don’t really know what to say about it. This sport is funny, sometimes things don’t make sense. But, as I said last time, I know I could definitely do the job.”
“But they’re always focused on their junior drivers, as they’ve invested a lot in them over the years. So it makes sense, but I can’t say much more.”
“I mean, maybe you could go ask them, plant the seed, and let me know what comes of it!”
