Bottas Eyes 2025 Stay Amidst F1 Transfer Frenzy

28/02/2024

As the 2024 F1 season approaches, Valtteri Bottas discusses his future, aiming to remain with Stake F1 before Audi’s entry. His decision could shape the transfer market and team dynamics.

The 2024 season hasn’t even kicked off with the first Grand Prix this weekend in Bahrain, yet the media are already focusing on the drivers and upcoming transfers!

When asked about this, Valtteri Bottas revealed that his priority for the 2025 Formula 1 season is to stay with Stake F1 before Audi’s arrival.

Audi will join the grid in 2026, taking over the operations managed by Sauber, thus becoming the German manufacturer’s factory team, likely making it a highly sought-after destination for several drivers on the grid.

With nearly half of the grid’s drivers out of contract by the end of the current season, the prospect of driver swaps is very much on the cards. However, Bottas is keen to stay put and commit to Audi’s F1 project.

Bottas Targets Audi Amid Contract Talks

“It’s going to be interesting. I guess things will start moving relatively soon, as many contracts are ending, including mine,” he said today during the media day at Sakhir.

“I want to make a good start to the year and then we’ll see. Of course, my management is already working on it, looking at what are the best options and what opportunities are there.”

“I just have to drive now. My priority, as I’ve said before, would be to get involved in the Audi project. For me, it’s really tempting and ideal.”

Bottas joined the team when it was running under the Alfa Romeo F1 name, after a lengthy stint with Mercedes F1. He thus emphasized that he has one of the most interesting resumes!

“I feel like I have nothing to prove but of course, in this sport, you always want to continue proving yourself because people’s memories are short.”

“We had a tough year last year. I was probably not very visible on track, fighting too often at the back.”

“So, I hope people don’t forget what I’ve been able to achieve, namely 67 podiums and 20 poles, etc. So, there are not many drivers on the grid who will be free with such a track record.”
