Audi Stays the Course in F1 as Renault Plans Exit

Audi F1 Confirms Long-Term Commitment Amid Renault Exit

09/10/2024

Audi F1 rejects speculation, maintaining full commitment to 2026, following Renault’s decision to exit the Formula 1 scene.

Audi F1 does not present a risk similar to Renault, as the French manufacturer has decided to withdraw from Formula 1 in 2026, leaving only five engine suppliers in the premier category.

Gernot Döllner reaffirmed the German manufacturer’s commitment.

“That’s not part of the discussion,” assures the brand’s CEO.

“Audi is committed to Formula 1 for the long term. Earlier this year, the supervisory boards of AG and Audi made the decision to take full control of Sauber shares. As of January 1, 2025, we will be 100% responsible for Sauber.”

“In 2025, this will happen, and the fact that I am now the chairman of Sauber, on the board of Sauber Motorsport, means I will be personally involved in our Formula 1 project more intensively.”

“We started at the end of July to realign our management structure with clear responsibilities. I am very pleased that we have found strong and solid leadership for our Formula 1 project, with Mattia Binotto and Jonathan Wheatley.”

“With a strong dual leadership, one handling in-house operations with the car project and the other managing track operations and being the spokesperson, we believe we have found the perfect solution for our future operations.”
