Audi F1 Secures Binotto Sainz's Game Unchanged

Audi F1: Does Binotto’s Arrival Change the Game for Sainz?

25/07/2024

Despite Audi F1’s acquisition of Mattia Binotto, Carlos Sainz remains unaffected, viewing the move positively yet cautiously.

Carlos Sainz is still unsure of his future and the team he will race for in the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Sainz and Audi have often been linked in recent rumors, and on Tuesday, Audi confirmed that former Ferrari boss, Mattia Binotto, would join the team.

Mattia Binotto has been appointed Chief Operating Officer and Technical Director, meaning Andreas Seidl and Oliver Hoffmann are departing. In addition to his team director role at Ferrari, Binotto also has experience as an engineer in Ferrari’s engine department and as Technical Director of the Scuderia.

Does this change anything from Sainz’s perspective?

“Not really,” Sainz replied.

“Many people are calling me now, not just Mattia, but yes, of course, we’ve talked. I congratulated him because I think it’s the perfect position for him right now.”

“My future is still being discussed and obviously analyzed very carefully. There are changes, almost every week, in many teams that I’m looking at for next year.”

“There are changes and developments in the team market as much as in the driver’s market. I’m just going to continue to give myself time to make the decision, to analyze all these changing things without giving too much away.”

Sainz admits that this latest transfer has many positive aspects for Audi F1.

“The arrival of Mattia in a team is positive, mainly because he has the necessary experience to build a top-level team as he did at Ferrari. He also brings that experience gained at Ferrari to Audi. I’m sure it’s a valuable asset for them, which is why they hired him. And of course, I wish him the best.”
