Aston Martin F1 Excels Off-Track with Tech Upgrades

17/07/2024

Aston Martin F1’s off-track developments, including a new wind tunnel and simulator in collaboration with Honda, are outshining their on-track progress.

Aston Martin F1 is progressing faster in terms of infrastructure than on the track currently.

Tom McCullough, Performance Director, has expressed his excitement about the ongoing development of the team’s headquarters in Silverstone.

The British team has already completed some major construction milestones, with its new AMR technology campus in July 2023.

Additional buildings are under construction, which will include a new wind tunnel and further facilities for staff and a new simulator ahead of the next generation of technical regulations in the 2026 season.

“It’s a really exciting time right now with the new campus. We obviously moved into building 1 a year ago, buildings 2 and 3 are under construction…”

“The wind tunnel is being commissioned and the new simulator will allow everyone to have their own environment and space to work. It’s a fantastic place, I still smile every day when I walk in.”

“And we have new projects. We are very involved with the gearbox, hydraulics, everything we need to handle for 2026 with the arrival of Honda.”

Honda will indeed partner with Aston Martin F1, and although there is still a season and a half until then, McCullough states that the Japanese manufacturer is already part of the team.

“There have been many meetings with Honda, as you can imagine, in preparation for 2026, both face-to-face and also via video. Their presence is now very tangible in our team, and yes, we have a lot of work to do, many changes.”

“The company, the team has grown. We are looking forward to 2026. But we still need to focus on this year and next year.”
