Aston Martin F1 showed resilience at Imola, with Lance Stroll securing two points despite Fernando Alonso’s challenging weekend, as praised by director Mike Krack.
Aston Martin F1 salvaged some pride at Imola, despite a very challenging weekend for Fernando Alonso. Lance Stroll scored two points, and his director, Mike Krack, praised the team’s strategy and its execution by the Canadian driver.
“We leave Imola with two important points thanks to Lance’s good driving and excellent team strategy,” said the Luxembourger, who reviewed Stroll’s race in detail.
“Lance managed his one-stop race with a long first stint, while Fernando’s early pit stop on lap eight drew several cars into the pits for early stops. This helped Lance later on.”
“Lance then made solid overtakes at Turn 1 on Hülkenberg and Tsunoda to secure ninth place. It wasn’t easy to overtake, so it was great to see Lance make those moves.”
Krack confirmed that Alonso did what the team needed by running to gather data, as the team seeks more performance: “It was always going to be difficult for Fernando to progress into the points after a tough qualifying, but he perfectly played the team game.”
“The Imola weekend showed that we are not yet competitive enough. Our goal is to extract all the potential from the AMR24 for the upcoming races, starting next week in Monaco.”
