Alonso Secures Points Amid Singapore Struggle

Alonso Secures Points Amid Singapore Struggle

24/09/2024

Aston Martin F1 nabbed four points as Alonso placed eighth, while Stroll faced setbacks without a safety car.

Aston Martin F1 scored four points in Singapore with Fernando Alonso finishing eighth. Lance Stroll ended far from the points, and team principal Mike Krack detailed each driver’s race performance.

“In Singapore, we witnessed a remarkable test of human performance as the drivers completed 62 laps under Marina Bay’s lights in high humidity, temperatures over 30°C, and no rest periods,” noted the Luxembourger.

“Lance’s race team worked swiftly on a braking issue, opting for a precautionary pad change during the laps leading to the grid.”

“They performed an incredible team effort to change the front brakes, and Lance was able to finish the race without any issues. Lance drove well, but unusually, we saw no safety car in Singapore, possibly missing out on some opportunities.”

Krack thanked his team and emphasized the ongoing effort for Silverstone: “The four points Fernando earned are a hard-fought reward for impressive qualifying and an endurance race.”

“A few points here and in Baku for the team are good. We now have a mini-break to analyze everything and seek more performance before the final six Grands Prix starting in Austin. I want to thank everyone in the garage who worked under these extreme conditions this week.”
