Nico Rosberg warns Aston Martin that recruiting high-profile names isn’t enough for Formula 1 success, stressing the importance of team cohesion.
Nico Rosberg has warned Aston Martin F1 that recruiting star names alone may not be enough to win in Formula 1. The 2016 world champion expressed concerns about hiring individuals based on their reputation rather than their skills.
“Look at PSG in football,” Rosberg said. “They had Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappé, all three at the same time. Three of the greatest football players of all time, and the rest of the team was also very good, but they never won the Champions League.”
“Because, of course, it’s great to bring in top talents and the best managers. But they still need to integrate, to work together optimally, as the team’s quality depends on everyone’s collaboration.”
Rosberg reminded that Newey can’t be seen as a magic solution for the team: “Adrian Newey alone won’t make this car a world championship contender. He needs the rest of the team.”
“Of course, he can provide good direction, give excellent advice, but he still needs the team to perform alongside him. That remains to be seen. It will definitely be a challenge for them to integrate and create a team that works as a united force.”
