Aston Martin Targets All-Track Performance Boost

Aston Martin Unveils Major AMR24 Upgrade at Imola

18/05/2024

Aston Martin F1 introduces significant upgrades aiming for top performance on all circuits, with Technical Director Dan Fallows detailing the innovative approach.

Aston Martin F1 introduced a significant upgrade to its AMR24 this weekend. Despite still struggling to showcase its full potential, Technical Director Dan Fallows explained the philosophy behind the new parts brought to Imola.

“Most of this update is based on what we observed from the launch car, the test car, and how we want to develop it,” said Fallows. “We’ve found that some circuits suit us better than others.”

“We wanted to ensure we could be competitive everywhere. We are in the era of ground effect cars with specific performance windows, and we are always trying to widen these windows. Therefore, when bringing an evolution, it must be effective in all conditions.”

The engineer is confident that this evolution will work, believing that the team has learned from last year’s mistakes. Indeed, most of the updates Aston Martin introduced in 2023 were disappointing, which is not expected to be the case this year.

“We realized that we could push things further than before and that we needed to be more cautious in some areas. It’s been a rewarding experience, and I think we’re a bit more confident now that these improvements will work.”

“It’s quite aggressive. We knew we had a car with many opportunities at the start of the season, and we wanted to ensure we had continuous improvements. This is probably the most significant update to date. But it’s part of our plan, and we want to continue in this direction in the coming races.”
