Aston Martin F1 and Ferrari intensify their battle over Adrian Newey, placing £100 million on the table to secure his expertise.
Adrian Newey has reportedly been offered the astronomical sum of 100 million euros over four years to join Aston Martin F1.
Aston Martin is again the paddock favorite to sign Newey, who is the most sought-after brain in the F1 paddock after his decision to leave Red Bull.
However, Ferrari is not yet completely out of the negotiation table according to several consistent sources. Frédéric Vasseur is dealing with the departure of Enrico Cardile and a new structure around Newey and a few engineers who would follow him, to facilitate his transfer to Italy, remains current.
Vasseur also confided after the Hungarian GP: “We will make an announcement about the new organization after the summer break.”
It should be noted that in Hungary, Pedro de la Rosa, ambassador of Aston Martin F1, and Fernando Alonso, joked about the arrival of a new engineer.
De la Rosa, a former driver who worked with Newey at McLaren in the past, said to Alonso while holding a photo of Newey as part of a game: “It’s someone you’re going to like… you’re going to like him a lot.”
