Aston Martin F1 tempers expectations for 2025, shifting its focus to gathering crucial data ahead of the major 2026 regulation changes.
Aston Martin F1 should not be expected to achieve much in the 2025 season.
That is the view of the team’s new simulator driver, Dani Juncadella, who stated that the upcoming 2026 regulations and beyond will be the key focus this season.
The team finished fifth overall in 2024, but Aston Martin struggled to effectively develop its 2023 and 2024 F1 cars throughout the season.
Adrian Newey will begin working at the heavily upgraded Silverstone facility in just over two weeks, but his primary focus will be on the all-new 2026 project.
When asked about expectations for 2025, Juncadella admitted: “They are low.”
“It’s not as if we are going to waste a year, because it is important to have a competitive season. But it is also a year to gather all possible information for next year, when expectations will be very high.”
Overall, however, Juncadella expects the 2025 grid to be very tight.
“Everyone is already very close, and I hope that remains the trend because when the drivers are close, Fernando (Alonso) can make the difference.”
“So I am confident that we could also see some surprises.”
