Aston Martin F1 quashes rumors of a lavish bid to snag Red Bull’s Adrian Newey, aiming to solidify its F1 team dynamics.
Aston Martin F1 has decided to quash rumors that the team had made an “astronomical offer” to lure Red Bull F1’s design genius, Adrian Newey.
Red Bull Technology’s consultant was reportedly offered a significant contract during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend by sources, as part of an ambitious plan by Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll to turn his team into a powerhouse in F1.
It was also suggested that such a move could aid in persuading star driver and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso to agree to a contract renewal with Aston Martin, or even entice Max Verstappen in the future.
However, Aston Martin F1 team principal Mike Krack appeared to dismiss any chance of snatching Newey from Red Bull.
When asked about the truth behind the reports of this astronomical offer, Krack straightforwardly responded: “No, I completely deny it.”
“We have a very strong technical team with Dan [Fallows, technical director], with Tom [McCollough, performance director], with Luca [Furbatto, engineering director].”
“We were recently joined by Bob Bell. So, we are quite happy with what we have at the moment.”
