Former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto is linked with a return to F1, as Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll shows keen interest in appointing him as team principal.

Former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto might return to Formula 1 with Aston Martin.

The Italian, who was replaced by Fred Vasseur at the end of 2022, was seen at Imola last weekend.

According to Luigi Perna of Gazzetta dello Sport, “he has been linked several times with Audi and there have been rumors about an offer from Alpine.”

However, Binotto was spotted having an in-depth conversation with Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll at Imola.

Perna reports that, according to sources close to both the team and Binotto, “Stroll has a genuine interest in recruiting Binotto as team principal, replacing current holder Mike Krack.”
