Aston Martin assesses performance gains after the first day at Imola. Alonso and Stroll remain cautious, pending further analysis.
Fernando Alonso was skeptical after the first day of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, finishing in tenth place.
The Aston Martin F1 driver refrained from making predictions and simply expressed relief at having more track time than the previous two weekends.
“More laps than during a Sprint weekend. We’ll see what we can learn after today and do our best tomorrow for the best possible performance,” Alonso said, with little to share about his feelings.
“This interview is happening right after FP2; that’s how it works for you, but not for us.”
Lance Stroll remained characteristically reserved after today’s practice sessions, finishing 13th, just over a tenth behind his teammate.
“We have some new parts that seem interesting. Everyone has brought updates. We’ll wait for tonight’s analysis to see how we’ve progressed and what we can improve for tomorrow.”
