Horner finds relief after a detailed review ends in the rejection of the appeal against him.
Christian Horner, Team Principal at Red Bull, has expressed his “relief” that allegations of inappropriate behaviour levelled against him by a female colleague were dismissed following an appeal.
Red Bull confirmed on August 8 that the appeal, which was filed in March after an initial investigation into the allegations had cleared Horner, was rejected.
Horner has denied the allegations since they were made public in February. Red Bull suspended the complainant in March.
Speaking at the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend, in his first public comments since the dismissal of the appeal was confirmed, Horner stated: “Obviously, it has been an extremely thorough process and, of course, I was relieved that the appeal concluded and the complaint was dismissed.”
“So now, as has been the case all season, the focus must be on the track, here at Max’s home race, and looking forward to these final ten races.”
When asked whether he regretted that the situation had become public, Horner added: “It’s a private matter. I am simply relieved that the company-led process is now concluded. We are back on track.”
The investigation is thus concluded on Red Bull’s part. However, nothing prevents the complainant from pursuing legal avenues if she wishes.
