Andrea Kimi Antonelli is determined to turn his Miami qualifying success into a solid race, following a disappointing Sprint performance.
Mercedes F1 driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli is determined to “put everything together” during the race.
After securing pole position for the Sprint race yesterday, Antonelli showed strong form again on the Miami circuit, qualifying in third place for the main race. The Mercedes driver was pleased with his performance despite a small mistake at the first corner.
“This weekend has gone well so far. The Sprint was disappointing, but it’s great to bounce back like this. I didn’t have a clean run in qualifying like I did yesterday, I pushed a bit too much in the first corner, but it was still a solid lap,” Antonelli said.
Now, the Italian is focused on delivering a clean race, avoiding mistakes from his rivals. Confident in his ability to produce a strong performance, he is determined to keep up the momentum after a weekend without major errors in Florida.
“The gaps are very tight, so even gaining a few hundredths can make a big difference in positions. You need to put everything together, and that’s what I’ve done so far this weekend. I’m hoping to continue that in the race.”
