Renault F1: Viry Staff and De Meo in Key Talks

21/09/2024

Alpine Racing staff at Viry discuss F1’s future and engine strategy with Renault CEO Luca De Meo.

Alpine Racing Employees at Viry-Châtillon Meet with Renault Group CEO Luca De Meo to Advocate for the Continuation of the French Engine in F1 and to Avoid the Potential Cessation of the Programme That Would Necessitate the Adoption of a Mercedes Customer Engine in 2026.

According to a statement released this evening by the Social and Economic Committee, “the employees are still awaiting a definitive stance from the Renault Group management which will take into consideration the new elements presented.”

Following the meeting with Mr. De Meo, the Alpine Racing staff representatives expressed their gratitude towards the Renault Group management for the opportunity to engage with the executive leadership and for the quality of the discussions during the meeting.

“The concrete efforts and proposals brought forward by the Viry-Châtillon delegation appear to have resonated with the Renault Group management, who continue to deliberate on maintaining the F1 activities at the French site.”

“As it stands, the threat of ceasing F1 engine development in France remains a current issue, with the risk of losing unique expertise persisting at a time when the industry in France needs to support its talent and strengthen its national collaborative network.”

“The employee representatives remain mobilized, resolute, and attentive to the workers. Preparation for upcoming actions continues, and further communications on this matter will be issued in the coming days.”
