Alpine Fight Back: Gasly Says 'More to Learn Yet'

Alpine builds momentum in 2025 as Gasly targets more points in Saudi Arabia, confident but aware development is still ongoing.

Alpine heads to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix — round five of the 2025 Formula 1 season — with growing confidence after scoring its first points of the year in Bahrain.

Reflecting on that result, Pierre Gasly shared his optimism after a hard-fought race at the Sakhir circuit:

“It feels great to leave Bahrain with points on the board, especially after a challenging start to the season. I’m really happy for the team — we executed the race well, with solid strategy and pit stops. The car felt strong, and that gives us something positive to build on for the upcoming races.”

“The safety car didn’t help us much, and losing a place to Max [Verstappen] was frustrating, but overall, I’m proud of what we achieved as a team.”

As the triple-header continues in Saudi Arabia, Gasly is eager to keep the momentum going.

“Jeddah is a fast, flowing track with high-speed corners, which should suit us like Bahrain did. We’ve made clear progress since 2024, but we’re still learning about this car. Our goal is another top-10 finish, and I’m excited to get back behind the wheel.”

Teammate Jack Doohan, who impressed in Bahrain despite missing out on points, is now preparing for his first F1 start in Jeddah.

“Overall, Bahrain was a strong weekend. The car was competitive, and Pierre’s P7 was a great result. Personally, I was happy with our pace, but the final outcome was disappointing — a few things didn’t go our way.”

“We had our best qualifying performance as a team, and both cars were fighting in the top 10 for most of the race. Unfortunately, the safety car erased the advantage we gained with the undercut. Track position was good, but fresh soft tyres on other cars made it tough to hang on in the end.”

Looking ahead to Saudi Arabia, Doohan is focused on building on the team’s upward trajectory.

“It’s the final race of this three-week run, and I’ve raced here before in F2. It’s a smooth, fast circuit, and that experience should help us hit the ground running. We’ll be pushing to keep the momentum and hopefully bring home more points.”
