Official : Famin to Exit Alpine F1, Oakes May Succeed

Alpine F1 announces Bruno Famin’s departure next month, with successor Oliver Oakes not yet confirmed.

Bruno Famin will step down from his position as team principal of Alpine F1, the team has announced.

The Frenchman was confirmed as the team principal for the Enstone-based team ahead of the current F1 season, after serving as interim head following the departure of former team principal Otmar Szafnauer during last year’s Belgian Grand Prix.

Now, during this year’s Belgian Grand Prix weekend, it has been announced that Famin will leave his position by the end of August and will oversee all other motorsport activities of the Renault group at Viry-Châtillon.

“Alpine F1 Team can confirm that Bruno Famin will leave his current position as F1 division team principal by the end of August.”

“Bruno Famin will oversee all other motorsport activities of the Renault group at Viry-Châtillon. A new team principal will be announced in due course.”

As we reported, Oliver Oakes, the director of Hitech GP in F2, is tipped to replace the Frenchman.
