Pierre Gasly anticipates a competitive weekend as Alpine F1 aims to capitalize on momentum from a hard-fought point in Mexico.

Pierre Gasly returned to the points this weekend in Mexico. One point scored by the Alpine F1 driver felt almost like a relief after a tough streak in recent races.

Ahead of the upcoming Brazilian GP, the Frenchman reflects on his race and shares his expectations for São Paulo.

“I was really happy to secure an important point in Mexico to reward our progress over the last few rounds,” said Gasly as he looked forward to Interlagos.

“It was probably the best result within our reach, and it was extremely satisfying as it had been a while since we’d scored. It was also very encouraging to have another solid qualifying, firmly in the top ten. The team deserved that point after the race, and I’m glad I could deliver it to them.”

“I had to be cautious at the start and approaching the first braking zone, seeing a tricky situation unfold with the cars around me. It was the right decision since we managed to stay clear of the first corner incident. After that, we managed our pace very well.”

“I’m optimistic for this weekend in São Paulo,” added the Frenchman.

“It’s great to be back at Interlagos this week for the São Paulo Grand Prix. It’s an iconic track where I have fond memories, having scored my first podium here in 2019.”

“The circuit is one of the shortest of the year. It’s very smooth, making it great fun behind the wheel. After two top-ten finishes in qualifying and a point in the last race, I’m optimistic for another competitive weekend.”

“It’s also the second Sprint in this triple-header, making it an intense period for everyone working in Formula 1. I want to warmly thank all team members for their hard work over the last two races, and let’s make it another good weekend.”
