Fernando Alonso scores first F1 2025 points at the Spanish Grand Prix after a bold drive with aggressive overtakes for Aston Martin.
Alonso finally opened his points tally for 2025 by finishing ninth in the Spanish Grand Prix. The Aston Martin F1 driver appeared relieved after the race and was pleased to achieve the result in front of his home crowd, even though it was far from an easy race.
“Yes, I’m happy, I’m also pleased for the fans. They were very excited at the end, I saw people standing in the grandstands during the final laps, so I’m happy for them,” said the two-time world champion.
“The race was tougher than expected. We were slow on the straights and for every overtake we had to be aggressive in Turn 3, which is not usually a place to pass, but that’s what we had. I felt more comfortable on Saturday than on Sunday.”
The Spaniard admitted he gave everything during the race to secure a top ten finish: “I took bigger risks in this race because overtaking was difficult. Following was hard because we destroyed the tyres, so I was aggressive. I expected better pace, but we scored points and we will try to keep building on this momentum.”
