Alonso Secures Eighth with Single Pit Stop in Belgium

Aston Martin F1 Secures Optimal Outcome in Belgium

30/07/2024

Aston Martin F1 excelled in Belgium, securing an optimal outcome as Alonso clinched eighth with one pit stop.

Aston Martin F1 managed to secure four points with Fernando Alonso. The two-time world champion finished eighth (ninth before George Russell’s disqualification) and was the top driver behind the four leading teams thanks to a one-stop strategy similar to that employed notably by Russell.

Mike Krack, the team director, was pleased to witness solid performances.

“Fernando and the team secured four points with a one-stop strategy, which is the best outcome we could have hoped for at Spa,” the Luxembourger celebrated before recounting the team’s race.

“We successfully executed the one-stop strategy for both drivers, and it was the same for the race winner before his disqualification. Lance drove well, but we were unable to position him to score points.”

“The strategy worked with the pit stops, and we earned a modest reward. We are moving in the right direction as we approach the summer break, but there is still much to improve in the second half of the season.”

Now, Aston Martin will continue to work on making progress in the latter part of the season: “Thanks to all the track team and to Silverstone, who have earned a well-deserved rest and will come back fully recharged at Zandvoort with many opportunities to seize.”
