Amidst uncertain conditions at the Japanese GP, Fernando Alonso voices concerns about Aston Martin’s performance, echoing sentiments from the Australian race.
Fernando Alonso is questioning the performance of Aston Martin F1 after the first free practice sessions at the Japanese Grand Prix. The Aston Martin F1 driver believes his team will be in a similar position to Australia. He regrets that fans came for only one truly lively session, due to the rain, and didn’t learn much from his day.
“Not much, other than Suzuka is amazing and it’s great to drive here! There’s not much to say, it’s unfortunate for the fans who come here to support us, and we don’t have enough tires to run,” Alonso stated.
“Today doesn’t count for much, but we shouldn’t be in a very different position compared to Australia. We should be the fourth or fifth fastest team, and we’ll see tomorrow, but it will be a tough race for everyone.”
Lance Stroll was using the new aero package, which will be mounted on Alonso’s car tomorrow, but he couldn’t get a real sense of it due to the conditions.
“No, it was a slow day with the rain this afternoon, and running with the probes this morning,” Stroll said. “I didn’t do many laps today. We have an idea of where we’ll be, but we’ll see tomorrow.”
