Aston Martin shines at Monza, with Alonso and Stroll securing top ten finishes in smooth track conditions.
Following Imola, Aston Martin F1 marks its second Italian outing of the year, this time at Monza, alongside the other nine teams for the Italian Grand Prix.
On a sweltering Friday, with track temperatures soaring to 50 degrees, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll gathered data during the free practice sessions to fine-tune their car setups. They concluded the day in 9th and 10th positions respectively.
“Each circuit possesses its unique character, and racing at Monza is invariably a special experience. The track was smoother and less bumpy than last year, owing to the new tarmac. We gathered ample data over both sessions, and we will now analyse it and review it corner by corner to try and maximise the car’s potential on track tomorrow,” stated Alonso.
For the Canadian, “It was really fun to return to this track. It’s a fantastic circuit, and I love being in Italy.”
“We made some changes to the car after FP1, and it performed better in FP2. I believe we are moving in the right direction, but there is still work to be done tonight. The resurfaced track offered more grip and was less bumpy, so it was definitely smoother on the back!”
