Albon: Confident in Williams’ Strength, Focused on 2026

Alex Albon credits his strong start to Williams’ performance, but remains focused on long-term goals, prioritizing 2026 over short-term gains.

Alex Albon is in great form at the start of this season, contributing significantly to his team’s current position in 5th place in the Constructors’ Championship. However, the Williams F1 driver doesn’t feel like he’s suddenly become a better driver; rather, he’s simply behind the wheel of a much stronger car.

“It’s good for my confidence, I won’t lie,” said Albon. “But in terms of feeling, I don’t think I’ve changed my driving style much over the past few years. The car the team has built is really strong, and it gives me the confidence to aim for points at every race.”

“And when you’re scoring points every race, you’re on TV every weekend, so the way people perceive you shifts. I’m really happy with how I’m driving this year, but I haven’t done anything drastically different.”

The Thai driver acknowledges that predicting how the season will unfold is tricky. “It’s interesting because when you start well, you think you have to keep pushing and develop the car to secure that 5th place in the standings. But this year, it’s not just about that; it’s good, but we also need to focus on 2026.”

“We’re in a bit of a limbo right now. We need to assess what we want to do this year, and we know other teams will bring upgrades, though it’s unclear where that will place us. But I’m still convinced that prioritizing 2026 is the right approach. That said, I want to get on the podium, and I believe we can do even better.”
