Albon's 'Disappointing' Day Sargeant Fares Worse in Belgium

Belgium GP: Tough Sunday for Albon and Sargeant at Williams

28/07/2024

Belgium GP proves challenging for Williams, with Albon and Sargeant struggling throughout the race.

Alex Albon started from the top 10 in Belgium, hoping to aim for points. Ultimately, the Williams F1 driver finished 12th and does not believe his FW46, which he hopes to see evolve soon, could have performed better.

“We just didn’t have the pace. Esteban and Daniel were faster than us. I got off to a good start, gained some positions, but we lacked pace. We haven’t had many developments this year, but everyone is working hard at the factory. We will have a significant update after the break, but 12th place was the best possible outcome,” Albon lamented.

“It’s disappointing; we’ve been behind since the start of the season, we were late with the car and it’s costing us throughout the season. But there will be positive developments in the future, there are still areas to work on and we need to focus on development, for this year and the next.”

Logan Sargeant expressed a desire to just “leave” Spa after a poor race: “It wasn’t good. I felt that the hard tire set at the end was good, the two sets of mediums before were tricky. In the second stint, I tried my best to hold back other drivers and assist Alex, but I had no pace. That’s just the way it is.”
