In Melbourne, Alex Albon’s 12th-place finish marked a critical moment for Williams F1, showcasing resilience and strategic prowess.
Alex Albon delivered an impressive qualifying performance in Melbourne, securing the 12th position. This was a pivotal result for Williams F1, following their decision yesterday to prioritize Albon for the only remaining operational FW46, despite him being the cause of the initial chassis damage.
“It’s not bad, I honestly felt the pressure as if I were in my own car,” Albon stated. “Rebuilding confidence after Saturday was necessary, but with everything that happened, I felt a responsibility to perform well. I’m pleased with today’s outcome, feeling that 12th place is good for us.”
“This is where we hoped to be, Yuki consistently delivers strong performances. However, given the circumstances, it hasn’t been easy for the team, and certainly not for Logan; we don’t like to compete this way. Aiming for a good result for him and the team is tomorrow’s goal.”
Albon is looking ahead to the race, anticipating challenges: “Graining is going to be a major discussion point in the race, and I haven’t completed any laps! But no one has tested the hard tire, so that might level the playing field a bit. I’ll need to adapt in the first stint, and after that, I’ll just drive and see.”
