Williams F1 is optimistic after Bahrain testing, with Albon confident in the car’s potential and Robson highlighting productive development work.
Alex Albon took charge of Williams F1’s final day of testing in Bahrain, completing a full day on track. The Thai driver had a frustrating start to the day, but things fortunately improved as the session progressed.
“Third day done! I don’t know about the other drivers, but the morning was very tough with the wind, and we struggled to find our rhythm. We also had some issues with the car, which set us back, so it was a difficult start,” said Albon.
“Eventually, we managed a good long run and a decent low-fuel run before finishing the day with more long runs. Overall, I’m feeling positive. We need to analyze some data and focus on a few key areas.”
“The good thing is that we know how to find lap time, and I don’t think it will be too hard to unlock, so we’ll work on that and get ready for Melbourne!”
Williams’ head of trackside engineering, Dave Robson, outlined the challenges the team faced on the final day and how they managed their program across the three days of testing.
“Alex was back in the car for the final day of winter testing. Conditions were trickier today, with strong gusts making the sessions more challenging. However, we were able to complete useful work across a range of fuel loads.”
“In preparation for the upcoming season, we ran through a variety of car setups and tire compounds. Once again, the FW47 proved to be very reliable, with only minor issues affecting the program. This puts us in a good position for the opening races of the season.”
