Williams F1 targets crucial points in Mexico as Albon and Colapinto prepare for a competitive weekend on the unpredictable circuit.

Alex Albon faced a tough challenge in Austin, enduring a difficult race and a result best left behind. However, the Williams F1 driver is eager to put that memory to rest and approach the Mexican Grand Prix with a determined mindset, aiming for a stronger performance.

“After a tough weekend, I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel in Mexico this week and seeing how the car performs on this unique circuit, which has always been somewhat unpredictable for us,” said Albon.

“We’re returning to a standard race weekend format, so we’ll be able to build up momentum through the free practice sessions. If we can address some of the issues we’ve been facing, we should find more performance. The fans here are always so passionate, so I’m excited for what could be a great weekend.”

Franco Colapinto, who will be even closer to his fans this weekend, is also aiming for a top 10 finish: “I’m very happy to be racing in Mexico this weekend. I can’t wait to experience the incredible support from the fans once again.”

“In Austin, it was clear that there’s very little between the teams in the midfield. The high altitude at this circuit will present a unique challenge compared to other tracks, as we try to extract the maximum from the car.”

“The return to a normal race weekend format allows me to focus on building up throughout the sessions before qualifying. We’ll do our best as a team to fight for points.”

Williams’ Sporting Director, Sven Smeets, highlighted that the key to success will be optimising the soft tyres, particularly in qualifying: “We’re looking forward to racing in Mexico this weekend. This unique circuit, with its incredible stadium section and passionate fans, always delivers surprises and an exciting race.”

“As we return to a traditional race weekend format, our focus will be on improving our performance on the soft tyres, which we struggled with last weekend. The high altitude will bring its own challenges, and every millisecond will matter in the fight for points.”
