Adami to Guide Hamilton’s Ferrari Debut in 2025 F1 Season

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari journey starts with Riccardo Adami, Fiorano testing, and a fresh team dynamic in F1 for 2025.

Hamilton will indeed work with Carlos Sainz’s former race engineer, Riccardo Adami, during his first season with Ferrari in F1 in 2025.

Hamilton officially joined Ferrari on January 1, after announcing in February of last year that he had signed a multi-year contract with the Scuderia.

His long-time race engineer, Peter Bonnington, did not follow him and instead took on a larger role at Mercedes F1, being promoted to Director of Race Engineering. He is expected to continue his role as race engineer with Hamilton’s successor, Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Adami, who previously worked as a race engineer for Sainz (2021-2024) and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel (2015-2020), received direct praise from Vettel, which was relayed to Hamilton when he inquired about him in the spring of 2024 to better prepare for his move.

However, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur appeared to cast doubt on whether Adami would be Hamilton’s race engineer. “I don’t know. We’ll need to discuss it over the winter,” he said in Las Vegas.

The uncertainty has been cleared: Adami will indeed be Hamilton’s new race engineer.

The two will get to know each other in driving conditions at Fiorano on January 20 or 21, followed by a four-day session at the Barcelona circuit, reserved by Scuderia Ferrari. The dates remain flexible to ensure optimal weather conditions.

These tests with an older F1 car will allow Hamilton to cover up to 1,000 kilometers over four days, the annual limit set for a primary driver starting in 2025.

It is rumored that Scuderia Ferrari may live-stream Hamilton’s first day at Fiorano on its social media platforms.

Notably, several members of Hamilton’s entourage will join him at Ferrari. His manager, Marc Hynes, of course, along with his personal photographer, trainer, security personnel, and at least one individual who managed his communications and public relations.
