The 2025 Saudi GP returns with high stakes, fierce rivalries, and the season’s fastest street circuit ready to test every driver.
The Formula 1 calendar doesn’t slow down just yet. After two intense race weekends, the F1 circus heads to Jeddah for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix — the fifth race of the 2025 season and the final chapter of the year’s first triple-header.
Though not the first street race of the year, Jeddah is undoubtedly the most intense so far. This circuit leaves no room for error. With tight margins in performance and fierce on-track battles, any mistake could prove costly.
The Circuit
Designed by Hermann Tilke’s team, the Jeddah Corniche Circuit is one of the fastest street tracks in the world — second only to Monza in average speed. The first sector features a mix of medium and high-speed corners with limited runoff areas, challenging drivers to balance aggression with precision.
Sector two introduces a steeply banked turn and the first sequence of high-speed corners squeezed between the barriers. The walls are lined with aggressive curbs, adding a real risk of losing control.
As the lap continues, two tighter corners are split by another flat-out section, leading onto the iconic stretch along the Red Sea lagoon. This is also the second DRS zone, with the first coming just before it in the high-speed sequence.
Drivers then sweep through a full-throttle left-hander along the coast before hitting the final hairpin. Officially, the track features 27 corners, many of which are taken flat out thanks to the incredible grip and downforce of modern F1 cars. It’s a rollercoaster of rhythm, speed, and nerve.
The Contenders
McLaren enters as the team to beat. They’ve excelled across four very different tracks, and both drivers are delivering. Oscar Piastri will be looking to keep his momentum and perhaps even snatch the lead in the drivers’ standings from teammate Lando Norris.
Ferrari is hunting for its first podium of the season. Upgrades introduced in Bahrain could prove more effective on Jeddah’s rapid layout. Meanwhile, Mercedes will aim to consolidate their spot as best of the rest behind McLaren.
At Red Bull, uncertainty lingers. Will it be a “Japan-style” weekend with Verstappen in the hunt for victory, or a repeat of Bahrain where the RB21 struggled to break into the top five? An internal review after Bahrain may help, but there are no guarantees.
Further down the grid, teams like Haas, Williams, Racing Bulls, and Alpine will battle fiercely for any remaining points. On a track where chaos can erupt in an instant, opportunities will be there for anyone ready to grab them.
Reminder: These times are in British Summer Time (BST). Don’t miss the race-day action as the sun sets over Jeddah — and the adrenaline rises on track!
