Get ready for an exciting weekend in Bahrain with the 2025 Grand Prix. Here’s everything you need to know about the race schedule and what to expect.
The 2025 Formula 1 season is already rolling at full speed, with the Bahrain Grand Prix marking the fourth race of the season this weekend. After an exciting start, the race at Sakhir promises to be more dynamic than the one in Suzuka, with teams feeling more comfortable on this track after three days of winter testing here.
With plenty of data from the pre-season tests, teams are expected to optimize their car setups, bringing new updates to improve their performance without much trial and error. This means the competition will be fierce, with more teams having a better understanding of their cars.
Track Characteristics
Built in the heart of the desert, the Bahrain International Circuit is known for its combination of high-speed corners and tricky elevation changes. The first corner presents a heavy braking zone at the end of a long straight, making it an ideal spot for overtaking but also a risk for collisions at the start.
After a short straight, the first DRS zone is located, leading into a sharp corner before a fast downhill section. This section is followed by a left-hand high-speed corner, which then transitions into a braking zone before the hairpin. The second DRS zone comes after this, with the remainder of the circuit consisting mainly of fast corners, including a long left-hand turn followed by a right-hand curve.
The long back straight and the start/finish line also provide opportunities for overtaking, with a third DRS zone situated along this stretch.
Teams to Watch
McLaren is considered the favorite heading into the race, but, as seen in Suzuka, Max Verstappen is never far behind and will be eager to prove he’s still in the title fight and to take the championship lead from Lando Norris.
Ferrari will also be one to watch, bringing an updated floor to improve their aerodynamic efficiency. Mercedes has been slightly off the pace so far, but George Russell will undoubtedly be aiming to get involved in the battle for the podium, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli could surprise everyone once again.
In the midfield, Williams is likely to be the strongest team, with exciting battles expected between them, Racing Bulls, and Haas. Meanwhile, Aston Martin and Sauber are likely to remain at the back of the grid, though Pierre Gasly could challenge for a spot in Q3.
Bahrain GP Schedule
After three early-morning Grand Prix sessions, Formula 1 returns to a more traditional schedule with afternoon and evening sessions. The Bahrain Grand Prix will follow a standard timetable after the 2024 edition, which took place from Thursday to Saturday.
