Yuki Tsunoda’s promising race at the China GP was cut short due to a collision with Kevin Magnussen, leading to frustration over his uncompleted surge through the field.

Yuki Tsunoda’s race came to an abrupt halt when Kevin Magnussen collided with his VCARB 01. The RB F1 driver had moved up the rankings after a poor qualification, and he is frustrated that he couldn’t finish the race at the China GP.

“It’s pretty clear, he hit my wheel and sent me spinning. There was nothing more I could do; I had left some space. It’s frustrating that it ended this way, because I had made good progress until then, so it’s a shame,” Tsunoda stated.

The Japanese driver had a better pace in the race than in qualifying, but he is puzzled by performance differences with Daniel Ricciardo and wants to understand this. He thanks his team for the research work done to assist him this weekend.

“The pace itself was good, the start was good, I gained three places, I maximized everything I could. We will try to understand because it was different from my teammate. But the team really helps to address this, it’s not like I’m on my own, they have provided a lot of help.”
