Vettel Porsche Le Mans Test

Vettel Unsure About Racing at Le Mans with Porsche

29/03/2024

Sebastian Vettel contemplates a return to racing, mulling over joining Porsche for the 24 Hours of Le Mans after a recent test.

Vettel admits he is still unsure whether he wants to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, following his test with Porsche this week.

The German driver retired from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season but undertook a highly publicized test with Porsche in Spain earlier this week, as the prospect of participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans could tempt him back into a cockpit.

Last week, Vettel was announced as joining a long list of drivers participating in an extensive 36-hour test at Motorland Aragon in Spain, with the Porsche Penske Motorsport team ramping up its preparations for the famous endurance race.

With three cars confirmed for Porsche Penske, the line-ups for two of the cars have been decided – but two spots remain open in the third car.

As Vettel seems to ponder whether or not to make a racing comeback by joining Porsche for Le Mans, he traveled to Aragon earlier this week and completed hundreds of kilometers of testing – reportedly at a competitive pace.

Vettel explained the reasons behind his decision to conduct the test.

“I was curious to see how these Hypercars performed, and that’s why we carried out these tests.”

“It was a very nice experience, I enjoyed it a lot and had a lot of fun.”

“Now, I need to think, to make a decision. I need to decide what I might want to do in terms of racing in the future. But I don’t know yet.”
