Red Bull’s Pérez eyes recovery despite Vegas struggles

Pérez promises ‘progress’ with little season left to show, scores one point

Sergio Pérez secured a single point in Las Vegas, promising improvement after a challenging weekend marked by strategic missteps.

Sergio Pérez finished tenth at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, earning a single point after starting 15th. The Red Bull driver had hoped for a stronger comeback with an alternative strategy, but medium tire degradation complicated his efforts.

“I think we were surprised by the level of degradation; we didn’t expect it. Unfortunately, it cost us dearly. We used the best tires at the wrong moment and had to do a long stint on mediums, so we were out of sync,” Pérez said.

Asked about another disappointment following a weekend where he was eliminated in Q1, the Mexican driver appeared in denial about the difficulties he’s been facing, insisting he would soon resolve problems that have persisted for many races.

“Yesterday, we understood what happened. That’s how it is, but we’re close to turning things around. The pace is there, progress is coming, and we’ve figured out what went wrong in qualifying. We should have done a better job, but we didn’t, so we’ll work hard for the final races.”
