Alpine F1 faces speculation over Doohan’s future and reports of rising tensions between Pierre Gasly and advisor Flavio Briatore.
Alpine F1 swiftly addressed rumors suggesting Jack Doohan might lose his Formula 1 seat before even making his planned debut in 2025.
Backed by Bernie Ecclestone, who told Blick that the $20 million demanded by Williams would pose “no problem” for executive advisor Flavio Briatore, speculation arose that the Enstone-based team might secure Franco Colapinto.
Doohan was rumored to be the casualty of this transfer. However, Alpine posted a new message on social media, captioning “2025 loading” on a video of the 21-year-old Australian training.
Frenchman Pierre Gasly, also contracted with Alpine for 2025, is reportedly facing tensions with Briatore, Renault CEO Luca de Meo’s chief F1 advisor.
Briatore allegedly reprimanded Gasly in front of the entire racing team in Mexico and has grown increasingly frustrated with the driver’s habit of arriving late to the circuit.
He may have “punished” the 28-year-old by ordering him to attend a test of the two-year-old Alpine A522 in Qatar right after the Brazilian GP, disrupting Gasly’s planned vacation before Las Vegas.
